Consultations
Parents come to me with a wide range of concerns:-
- Separation anxiety
- Sibling rivalry
- Learning and behaviour difficulties
- Separation and divorce
- Being on different page to their spouse/partner
- Blended families
- Defiant, oppositional and anti-social behaviours
- Fussy eaters
I will spend some time gathering relevant history about your child and your family and listening to your issues and concerns. From that I will make recommendations and if necessary referrals. You will leave with a deeper understanding of the cause of the behaviour, as well as strategies for making changes and practical tips tailored for your child and your situation.
If I find your child needs Brain Gym, I will work with your child for 6 -12 sessions.
What others say about the Consultation Process
“I initially came to see Janet regarding my son Finn who was approaching his fourth birthday and was in the middle of his first year of pre-school. Finn was hard work and I often felt overwhelmed by him. He still threw hideous tantrums, would wake most mornings in a foul mood and spend the rest of the day whinging, being irritable or at best holding a melancholic disposition. This was with me, at least, at home. At pre-school, the teachers never mentioned tantrums, but were concerned with his “introvertedness”, not wanting to talk or express himself and even his motor skills. Finn also seemed to startle easily, was very uneasy in new situations and was not comfortable accepting affection, even from me…..a lot of these things I just put down to the luck of the draw with a child’s temperament/personality, my possibly inept parenting skills of a first born, his age…and surely things would just get better?!….preferably before I went nuts!
Luckily I was introduced to Janet and even from the initial telephone consultation began to feel hopeful that these behaviours may not be permanent ones. I remember Janet asking me a series of straight forward questions, one regarding Finn’s birth experience. Was it particularly fast? Yes, in fact, ridiculously fast, what did this have to do with his present behaviour, I thought. Then she began to discuss “retained primitive reflexes” and everything about my little boy suddenly seemed to make sense. After following Janet’s suggestions we began to see the loving, happy, calmer, engaging little boy we’d always hoped had been in there. The change was almost immediate. Janet followed up with teaching Finn her “brain gym” exercises. Again, whenever we are having a bad day these exercises help to calm Finn and divert any looming tantrum. A combination of fish oil and evening primrose oil has also made a huge difference to his moods. I feel so much gratitude to Janet – she has helped to bring out our little boy and made our home life pleasurable again.”

“I first met with Janet after observing my son become overly anxious and reactive in certain situations and questioning how as a mother to best deal with these situations. Janet’s extensive experience then came into play by putting into context the behaviours I was concerned about, providing numerous practical strategies for how to manage (and often prevent) the situations, providing insight into how my son is processing information so that I can communicate in a way which will be meaningful to him, and by referring me on to a member of her team who has provided assistance from a physiological perspective. Her strategies and advice has been invaluable and has helped me to take the guess work out of what has been stressful to both my son and to me. We are getting good results very quickly, and I can see this issue being completely resolved over the short term- I wish I had seen her sooner”.
